Summarize!

In your reading today, you need to summarize your section. this means that you are going to find the one main idea that came out of your reading in this section and support that with three details. Don’t forget to remind all of us the title of the book that you are reading.

Let’s Get Started

Now that we have begun blogging, it is time for us to dive into blogging about what we are reading. Today, I would like you to read for 20 minutes. While reading, I want you to focus on clicks and clunks in your reading. Remember, clicks are the parts that make sense, and clunks are those parts that do not make sense. Make sure you fix your clunks and tell us how you did. You will be blogging and telling everyone at least 2 parts that made sense and 2 parts that did not make sense, and how you fixed those parts. Have fun, and enjoy your book. Make sure to include what book you are reading!

Finally, the web site is back and going again and everyone is set up with the ability to comment. YEAH!! Now I want you to take a minute and think about what we have done in class so far this year. What was your favorite activity? What is your favorite subject? Tell us why. Remember, no names can be used in your writing.

It has been a while since you have had to blog about your reading! Don’t let that make you think you don’t have to write well and with lots of detail   Describe what you saw in a part of your reading today. Use words that will bring others inside your story so that they will feel like they were reading right along with you.

I read……

Let’s see how well you are doing with inferencing in your reading today. You will be looking for I read…I think…therefore… Tell us about 2-3 different ones that you came across in your reading today.

If you happened to finish your book, give us a summary and a recommendation for your book.

Who? What? Where? When? Why?

Today you were working on wh ?’s. Did anything surprise you in your reading? Did you finish your book? Tell us all about it!!

I saw…

In your reading today you were to be paying attention to the visual elements of your book. In other words, the pictures that came to your mind as you were reading. Describe what you saw in your mind. Be sure to use descriptive adjectives, especially since we have been doing a lot of work with those in class.

If you finished your book, post a summary of the whole book without giving away the ending. Tell others if you recommend this book for them to read and tell them why or why not.

Pick a Strategy

Today you were able to pick your own reading strategy to use while reading your book in class. Pick a strategy that you think will help you understand your book the best. When you are done reading and have marked examples of how you used your strategy, blog about it! Tell why you picked the strategy, how it helped you, and give some examples of how you used it.

Predictions, Predictions!!!

Today in your reading, you were to make three predictions. Tell what those predictions are and why you you think that is what will happen later on in the story. If you finished your book, just post a summary of your book and tell whether or not you would recommend this book to another person.
